Open Door Dearborn offers two competitive application tracks:

The Building Owner Track is for Dearborn property owners with a vacant space who are looking for quality tenants or those that recently secured a tenant but need help getting open. Are you a building owner? Check out resources here.

BUSINESS OWNERS - Four Types of Awards

​

Business Owner applicants will compete for financial and technical assistance. There are four award tracks available to business owners:

Business Plan - Up to 10 entrepreneurs will receive free business planning classes every quarter. Business Plan awardees are provided a $1000 Technical Assistance allocation for business services. Entrepreneurs and business owners will need a well developed, written business plan that includes financial projections, understanding of target customers, understanding of sales per square foot to determine size of future space.

Space – Marketing and matchmaking to find the space and property owner you'll work with in order to open your business.

​

Design – Win services from a professional architect including a design for tenant build-out, construction documents ready for permitting and an estimated cost of construction. Design awardees receive financial planning assistance, if required, and the Dearborn Open Door team facilitates permitting, connections to builders and financial lenders.

Cash – Up to $100,000 in grants and loans for up to 5 projects. The maximum grant award is $20,000 per project. Loans are facilitated through Open Door Dearborn lending partners.
